At Nightworks®, we take immense pride in our craftsmanship, and our latest creation is truly special. We were commissioned by W2 Ltd to create a bespoke 5-metre Code Cascade Pendant for a private waterfront residence in Ōtautahi Christchurch: a project that perfectly exemplifies the magic that happens when there's freedom to create without restriction.
The interiors of this stunning residence, meticulously designed and detailed by the talented team at W2, feature a harmonious blend of natural materials and modular design. Every element, from the kitchen cabinetry and bespoke wardrobes to the stairs and lighting, has been a true labor of love, shaped by the collaborative vision of W2 and their one-of-a-kind clients.
Our contribution to this extraordinary space is the Code Cascade Pendant, a centrepiece that commands attention the moment you enter the home. Handmade in our Christchurch studio, this pendant features warm white mouth-blown globes, Ōamaru Stone, and our signature Midnight Brass™ rods. These materials are thoughtfully arranged to create a striking visual narrative, with the globes and stone pieces effortlessly connected by the hand-patinated brass rods.
The pendant’s presence is further elevated by its placement within a sculptural blackened steel staircase, designed by W2 and fabricated by Hall Fabrication. This staircase, with its 6mm thick steel construction and matching Midnight Brass™ patina, forms a cohesive and captivating interplay with the pendant, marrying function and artistry in a truly unique way.
The result is a space that beautifully balances contrasts—soft and hard, light and dark, solid and porous—blending steel, stone, and glass into a harmonious whole. It’s a space that not only reflects the passion of our clients, who are avid art collectors, but also the meticulous attention to detail and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this vision to life.
