Completed in 1925 for the Public Trust Office, 152 Oxford Terrace was designed by one of Christchurch’s most celebrated architects, Cecil Wood. A truly grand design, it was designed to portray strength and stability to the people of Christchurch.
Suffering damage from the Christchurch Earthquakes, work to strengthen and refurbish this iconic masterpiece was completed in 2020 by developers BOX112 under guidance from Three Sixty Architecture.
In our first large scale commission for Christchurch, Nightworks was asked to create a statement chandelier for the stunning 6m high lobby, complete with a beautiful Terrazzo floor and ornate ceilings.
We began by referencing the material elements from the building's original construction, such as the beautiful Sydney sandstone facade and the brass hardware throughout. Then building on our award winning Code Pendant system, we created the minimalist chandelier by combining square columns of sandstone with custom made brass fixings, interlaced with glowing glass spheres.
The result is a stunning contemporary centrepiece that complements the heritage character of the building. We are immensely proud to be an integral part of this Christchurch icon.
With our new dedicated NZ production space we are excited to now offer this commission service, with limited availability.
